You've probably seen the public service announcement in which a tornado or a hurricane demolishes a house and the announcer reminds us, "Now is not the time to plan." It might as well be a video clip of a person receiving a pink slip or people walking across a parking lot carrying the contents of their desks in cardboard boxes. When you're let go is not the time to plan for dealing with unemployment. The best time to deal with unemployment is while you're still employed.
